Photography, Image Editing & AI
Visual storytelling is at the heart of BONVIA. The vast majority of the photography and visual material published on BONVIA is our own work. We photograph the places, food, objects, journeys, and moments that form the basis of our stories whenever possible.
Most photographs receive only limited post-processing, such as colour correction, exposure adjustments, a golden-hour effect, or another subtle edit that is part of conventional photography and image editing.
A small number of images are created by combining elements from multiple photographs. This may be used, for example, for certain hero images where elements from two photographs are brought together into a single composition. In some cases, AI-assisted image editing may be used as part of this process.
A limited number of images may also be created partly or entirely with the help of generative AI. For example, a seasonal image may combine a subject photographed by us with a digitally generated background.
AI is therefore an occasional creative tool within BONVIA’s visual process, not the source of the majority of our photography or visual content.
For this reason, BONVIA distinguishes between original photography, conventional image editing, composite photography, and AI-assisted imagery. Not every image on the website should necessarily be understood as a direct representation of a single moment or location.
We believe it is important to be transparent about how our images are created. At the same time, we see photography, editing, composition, and digital tools as creative means of visual storytelling. The purpose is always to support the atmosphere, feeling, and story of the page.
Where an image has been created substantially or entirely with generative AI, we aim to make this clear where relevant. We continue to work primarily from our own photography and use AI as an additional creative tool rather than a replacement for our own work.
