About Bonvia Stories

Beyond the Destination.

Sometimes a story begins with a place. Sometimes it starts with something you notice along the way, a question that stays with you or something you want to make for yourself.

For me, that is much of the appeal of discovery. You set off somewhere, but along the way you often come across something you were not looking for. An old building with a remarkable past. A dish you want to recreate at home. A machine you want to understand. Or a melody that suddenly takes you back to a moment from years ago.

Bonvia is where these discoveries come together.

An independent online magazine about slow adventure & soulful living. About exploring the world, staying curious, making things and taking the time to linger a little longer over something that catches your attention.

Not everything needs a purpose. Sometimes it is enough simply to be drawn to something.

Four worlds to explore

The subjects covered by Bonvia may vary, but they share something in common: there is always more to discover than you might think at first.

Endless Roads

About the places we travel to, the roads that take us further and the discoveries that were not always part of the plan.

Here you will find travel stories, remarkable destinations, landscapes, old towns and stories hidden in the history of a place. Sometimes it is about a long journey; sometimes it is about taking a detour close to home.

Because a destination does not have to be far away to show you something special.

Iron & Grace

About movement, machines and the pleasure of understanding how things work.

From motorcycling and the world of motorsport to bicycles, campers, workshops and the people who build, repair and restore things, or simply enjoy being on the move. There is room for engineering and craftsmanship, but also for the experience itself: the movement, the freedom, the concentration and everything that happens around it.

Sometimes the story is out on the road. Sometimes it is in the paddock, in a workshop or somewhere outdoors, on foot.

Flavour & Fire

About cooking, baking and everything that comes from spending time with food.

From recipes you return to time and again to sourdough, new techniques, ingredients and dishes that bring back memories of another place. From letting dough rise at its own pace to baking pizza over an open fire.

The kitchen is a place to experiment, to learn and sometimes simply to put something delicious on the table. It does not have to be complicated. And it certainly does not have to go perfectly every time.

Often, the best part is what you learn along the way — and who you eventually share it with.

The Quiet Path

About home, the seasons and the little things you find yourself lingering over.

A familiar corner of the house, a hobby you can lose yourself in, something you have collected for years or a ritual that belongs to a particular season. Here, there is room for curiosity without the need to achieve anything.

Not everything has to be productive, remarkable or impressive. Some things are simply enjoyable to do.

And that is reason enough.

Stories

Some stories belong to one world. Others move effortlessly between them.

A journey might begin with a building, lead to a search through history and end with a story you want to write down. A photograph can take you back to a place. Music can preserve a memory you had almost forgotten. And sometimes everything begins with a question you do not yet know how to answer.

Stories is where these stories come together.

Here, people, places, journeys, memories and discoveries meet. Not simply to tell what happened, but to explore what lies behind it, what makes it special and why it is worth holding on to.

There is also room within Stories for the creative side of telling them.

The Art of Seeing

Photography often begins before you pick up the camera. With the light falling through a window, a detail others might walk straight past or the realisation that a familiar place can look entirely different from another angle.

Here, the focus is on photography, light and composition, equipment, editing and creative experiments. Not on collecting ever-better gear, but on learning to look more closely and making images that preserve something of a moment.

The Art of Listening

Music belongs to places, people and different periods of our lives. Sometimes it is a record that has been with you for years; sometimes it is an artist you have only just discovered, or a sound system that lets you experience music in a different way.

We explore albums, artists, sound, equipment and the memories that become attached to music. From vinyl to streaming, from a song that unexpectedly moves you to the small details you only hear when you really listen.

The Art of Writing

A good story does not always begin with a good idea. Sometimes it starts with a question, a collection of notes or something you cannot quite let go of.

Here, we explore finding ideas, researching a subject, checking sources and searching for words that fit what you want to say. It is about structure, rhythm and rewriting, but also about the tools that can help along the way and the particular challenges of writing in two languages.

Because knowing what you want to say is one thing. Putting it into words so that someone else can truly feel or understand it is another.

The Gallery

Some photographs belong to a story. Others deserve a little space of their own.

Gallery is a place to wander through photographs from the world of Bonvia: places, tables, details and quiet moments encountered along the way. Some images are connected to stories you can read here; others stand on their own, inviting you to pause and take a closer look.

Every photograph has a story. Some are already told. Others are still waiting to be discovered.

The person behind Bonvia

I’m Wilma, the writer and creator of Bonvia Stories.

I enjoy finding things out, exploring new subjects and understanding how things work. It might be a place with a remarkable past, a recipe I want to develop further, a machine or a story that does not immediately reveal itself.

Writing gives me the space to follow that curiosity. To look beyond first impressions, research the details and preserve the little things that bring a story to life.

Bonvia brings many of these interests together. It is a place to write, take photographs, experiment and share the things I come across along the way. Sometimes that grows into a longer feature. Sometimes it is a small discovery that deserves a moment of attention.

I do not need to be an expert in everything to be curious about it. I do, however, believe in working carefully, checking facts where necessary and being honest about what I know and what I do not.

That is how I want to make Bonvia: with care, room for discovery and a genuine enjoyment of the story itself.

Beyond the destination

Bonvia is not a list of places you must see, things you need to own or things you ought to do better.

It is a collection of stories and discoveries for those moments when you feel like learning something new, looking at something differently or simply losing yourself in a subject for a while.

Perhaps you will find a place for your next outing, a recipe that becomes a favourite, music to listen to again or a subject you unexpectedly find yourself immersed in.

And perhaps it will give you an idea of your own.

Go somewhere. Make something. Share a table. Stay a little longer.

Some stories deserve to stay.
